Accessibility
This website should be usable with a keyboard, with a screen reader and with limited vision. Here is how far I have got, what is in place and where the limits are.
Audit status
Last audited on 16 August 2026 against WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard the European norm EN 301 549 also builds on. It was a self assessment: automated with the axe-core testing tool, plus manual keyboard testing. The audit covered the homepage, work, packages, FAQ, legal notice and privacy policy, and found no violations.
A self-assessment is not the same as certification by an independent body. It does tell you honestly what I hold myself to.
What is in place
- Every piece of content and every control can be reached with a keyboard, and the order follows what you see on screen.
- Controls show a visible focus ring as soon as you tab to them.
- A “skip to content” link sits at the very top and jumps past the navigation.
- Text meets the required contrast levels, and buttons and links are at least 44 by 44 pixels.
- Images carry alternative text. Purely decorative graphics are marked so screen readers skip them.
- If you have “reduce motion” switched on in your system, the site loads without animations and without the moving logo band.
- Page structure runs on real headings and landmarks, not on styling alone.
- The video in the header is muted, purely decorative and can be paused.
Where the limits are
- Automated tools do not catch every barrier. Some problems only show up in real use with assistive technology.
- Some links lead to third-party websites. I have no influence on how accessible those are.
- A downloadable PDF is not fully prepared for accessibility. Let me know and I will send the content in an accessible format.
Report a barrier
If something stops you from using the site, tell me. I reply within 24 hours on working days and give you a straight answer on whether and when I can fix it. Quickest via the contact form or by email to kontakt@einfachmelzer.de.
What about your project?
Since June 2025, accessibility has been mandatory for many businesses selling online in Germany. I build client sites to work with a keyboard and a screen reader from the start, and check that before launch. Whether your offering falls under the rules is something we sort out in the first call. None of this is legal advice: if your case is tricky, have a lawyer take a look.
